ITALIAN RECORDED MUSIC REVENUES GREW 18% IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2022

Audio & Video Streaming and Sync performed well

Vinyl continues its amazing revival story, up 17,5%

The first half of 2022 for music in Italy marked an overall growth of 18.33% and more than € 153 million of revenues: according to Deloitte data for FIMI, the organization that represents the Italian recorded music industry, each market segment grew in the first semester, in line with the most recent findings.

The digital segment is now established in the Italian scenario, covering 83% of the entire Italian market. This is due to the 13.7% growth in audio streaming subscriptions revenues and video streaming ones, which rose by 40.3%.

Physical formats grew thanks to vinyl, which marks +17.5%, despite the CD decline after the post lockdown rebound during 2021.

The current scenario reveals a local repertoire’s total domination, as highlighted by the half-yearly FIMI / GfK charts with both top ten (Albums and Singles) entirely in Italian language: this result is due to the wise investments of local record companies in a complex context such as the pandemic one.
